In the heart of the Cranford Business District, Torrin Photography and Frame Design has captured the lost art of elegant and classical photography. One cannot help but notice the warmth of this Victorian inspired studio and the painstaking detail that is apparent in these Masterpiece Portraits.
Tom Panico, owner of Torrin Fine Photography and Frame Design began his professional career in the early 1970s and over the years he has developed his own distinctive style that has made him a leader in the industry.
Convinced that portrait and wedding photography required more than technical knowledge, Tom found inspiration from such artists as Rembrandt, Raphael and Michelangelo. From the Renaissance, he appropriated the most pleasing compositions; from the Baroque, the most dramatic lighting; from British 18th century, the most stately decorum; and from the Edwardian Era, the fluid stylishness of the most fashionable. His portraits are truly timeless works of art.
Tom opened his first studio in Edison, New Jersey in 1976. Within a year Tom was offered an assignment in Southern California to work with one of the country's greatest master wedding and portrait photographers.
Traveling extensively throughout the United States, Canada and Europe on assignments and lectures, Tom brought new and innovative ideas to the photography industry. He has attended and lectured at such prestigious schools as Winnona, Triangle and the Hallmark Institute of Photography. He has held countless seminars and workshops for others in the photography industry and holds a myriad of awards for his excellence.
In 1982, Tom opened a 3,000 sq. ft. studio and frame gallery in Bayonne, New Jersey. This included a 625 sq. ft. camera room, a frame gallery with over 2,000 custom frame samples, a production room as well as a showroom containing some of the finest wedding and children's portraits in the country.
In the fifteen years Torrin was located in Bayonne, the studio developed a reputation for outstanding quality and customer satisfaction. Torrin's masterpiece portraits together with his custom hand-carved and gilded frame designs have expanded his client base as far as London and Paris.
Tom's faithful following is a testimonial to his reputation as a perfectionist, whose extraordinary attention to details cannot be ignored. By the early 1990's his portraits were steadily accruing into a kind of "Pantheon" of the 20th century upper-middle class society. Tom, however, is certain that his finest work still lies before him as he continues to search for that perfect portrait.
A Torrin portrait delineates its subject with beauty and grace, it presents an individual as he or she sees themselves or how families see their children.
It is not only the fine portraiture and lavish framing that lend an unmistakable charm to a Torrin portrait. It is the unwavering attention to the detail and meticulous craftsmanship that is combined to create such an outstanding image that reflects the ideas and skill of its name. His portraits and wedding photography have always set their own distinctive standards inspiring photographers from all over the world.
Owners of a Torrin masterpiece may rightly consider themselves as members of an elite group.
"It is also believed that people still want to see and to remember. They want time to stand still in some instances or to be recalled in every detail. They want to remember the good and the beautiful, the charming and the delightful, the lovable, and the kindly. Loved ones grow up and leave. Parents grow old and forget. At times all that is left is a picture and a memory. "
